It’s not rocket science that the 2024-2026 Kawasaki KX450 mufflers are plugged up! There is a ton of room for improvement with the engine character with just a slip on. “Kris, it’s a 450, how much power do we actually need”? You would be right, but also there is a fine line of too slow and too fast on 450 machines. The KX450 is super smooth down low which can make the KX450 feel heavy/rich feeling in certain areas of the track (tighter areas). Back in 2024 when this new gen 450 was introduced by Kawasaki it took me a few tracks to be able to feel this, but nonetheless the KX450’s power down low can make the green bike feel heavy in tight corners. Besides drilling holes in the left side cover, this KX450 needs to breathe, so enter Pro Circuit’s Ti-6 Pro “BC” muffler system. PC sent us there new 109db AMA legal “Big Canister”system that is replacing the standard “Ti-6 Pro” with carbon end cap from here on out. This new “BC” muffler is an AMA legal muffler that has a larger canister than the older Ti-6 Pro and incorporates muffler packing within the end cap. The larger canister as well as the packing within the end cap make for a pleasant note. I always preferred the “Pro” model over the regular Ti-6 as the sound as well as performance just felt better to me on the KX450. This is the same type of Pro Circuit system you see on all of the factory Monster Energy/Pro Circuit team riders. This end cap may look like the standard T-6 end cap but it isn’t.

Why does the “Pro” muffler feel/perform better to me? The “Pro” has a different perf inside the canister and that leads to more back pressure, which gave me (the rider) a sensation of a more connected throttle to rear wheel feel. I also preferred the quieter tone to the “Pro” over the standard Ti-6. These are just my feelings on the bike but you should also note that normally going to the “Pro” muffler will also burn the muffler packing up quicker. The smaller perf inside creates more heat within the canister and that can burn the packing up quicker. Now that Pro Circuit has went to this new “Pro” BC type muffler the packing could last longer (because of the larger can size), but that is something we will have to wait and see after several more hours of use. This is just a performance based review at this time.
The Pro Circuit Ti-6 Pro “BC” muffler system will take off 1.6 pounds from your stock muffler and looks factory on the machine. Even with the name “Big Canister” it doesn’t look that big on the bike. Like we mentioned, the sound (with the insert in) is not as loud as previous year’s Ti-6 Pro so that is also a nice feature. We even tried the “BC” with the insert removed and it is still surprisingly quiet and does give you more low end response. However, it does defeat the purpose of the 109db style muffler and why you would be purchasing this system, but if you’re not racing an AMA sanctioned event and want a little more low end snap with the “BC” then removing the insert does work well.

On the track you’ll immediately notice when leaving the pits is that you have more throttle response compared to the stock KX450 system. The touch of the throttle will be more “alive” than the stock muffler which makes the KX450 feel lighter (side to side/corners) than in stock form. Power delivery of the KX450 now feels like it pulls much harder than the stock muffler and getting out of a soft berm or rut has more pick up than in stock form as well. The Ti-6 Pro “BC” makes the engine character feel a little quicker/lighter than the “chuggy” nature of the stock system. The engine feels like it spools up freer and in that sense it makes an impression that the bike is lighter in slower sections of tracks. Mid range is also increased slightly but that is not as drastic of a feeling as the low end pulling power or low RPM throttle response. You’ll immediately notice more low end snap but it might be hard to decipher if you have more mid range, but trust me, the KX450 (with PC Ti-6 Pro “BC” installed) does have an increased mid range feel in 2nd-3rd gears. Each of these gears will be more usable with the PC system and the KX450 does become a little more lugable with the Ti-6 Pro “BC”, so you vet riders should appreciate this. Top end/over-rev is a little better than stock but nothing where you will be blown away. 2nd gear is already long on the KX450 but with the new PC muffler installed, it gets even longer and can allow the rider to shift into 3rd gear sooner. 3rd gear feels far away on the KX450, but adding some more horsepower to the KX450 (from this system) can make 3rd gear feel a little closer to 2nd, which is a good thing for this machine!
Overall, this system is a no brainer for people who want more low-mid range out of their 24-26′ KX450s. I know some of you will be bummed on the lack of carbon end caps on the “Pro mufflers now but to me, I prefer the cleaner look and the quieter sound of the Pro “BC”. For $1400.00 this is one of those times that an aftermarket muffler’s price tag can be felt on the track. You can’t say the A LOT these days with other aftermarket mufflers/machines.
