The Yamaha YZ250F/450F cockpit still just feels a little tight to me. I still feel cramped even though Yamaha changed their footpeg offset on the YZ450F in 2023 and in 2024 the YZ250F followed. In those years Yamaha opened changed the offset to -5mm down and -5mm back but Works Connection has since introduced their updated aluminum offset footpeg mounts that allow for another -5mm down and -5mm back of room.
The Works Connection offset mounts are made of 7075-T6 aluminum, has tighter tolerances than the standard OEM mounts, are compatible with stock or any aftermarket peg and come with laser engraved logos. Just like we have talked about before, you may be thinking, “oh it’s only a few millimeters Keefer, so how the hell can you feel that”? I can’t sit here and say “OH MY GOD, IT”S GOING TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE”. No, the Yamaha will not magically have a Honda ergonomic feel but you will have more room in the cockpit and you will get less leg fatigue when riding. I get less leg fatigue over the course of the day because the transition from sitting to standing is made easier. Why? My knees aren’t so bent (when seated) or when trying to push down on my pegs as I am leaning into a flat corner. My lower part of my body is slightly more relaxed and it allows my feet placement to be more true (on the balls of my feet). It also allows me to push down on my pegs harder because I have better leverage when on the edge of my seat. At the end of the day, Yamaha just needs a little better rider triangle for riders anywhere between 5’10 and up.
