Tested: VP RX96 Race Fuel

If you’re currently looking for a good pump replacement fuel (instead of T4+) RX96 is a fuel I stumbled upon that has a lot of the great performance features of T4+. VP RX96 fuel is an unleaded, oxygenated off-road racing fuel designed applications that can run low octane fuel. With the fuel’s unique chemical properties, RX96 is said to prevent vapor lock in the extreme heat of off road racing better than pump gas and standard types of race fuel.

What I liked about the RX96 is that I don’t have to remap my ECU on stock bikes or with some of my test bikes that have Vortex ECU’s mapped for T4/Pro6. I can pour this straight in and get the performance that I can feel without the hassle of mapping it specifically for this type of fuel. RX96 seems to be an in-between from T4 and Pro 6. I get more response with RX96 than T4 but not as much as Pro 6. RX96 is also cheaper than T4+ however with similar specifications as T4+. When Chad at XPR dyno’d RX96 over T4+ he also saw more torque as well as improved peak horsepower over T4+. Another added bonus is that RX96 gives off no nasty smell like some other race fuels. If you’re a race fuel user and are looking for a replacement for T4+, I would definitely be on the lookout or order some RX96. It is currently my go to for my test bikes. If you’re on a 250 four stroke these benefits are magnified more. We poured in RX96 in our YZ250F and it got some of that old low end response that we had with our 2022/2023 YZ250F.
